In theology eschatology comes first. That is, the End precedes the Beginning. Or, if you like, the End decides the Means.
God's eternal plan to head up all things in Christ frames everything that goes before.
Thus new creation precedes and explains creation; the New Jerusalem precedes and explains the Garden; Christ precedes and explains Adam.
Adam is 'the type' of 'the One who is to come'.
Everything is explained from the vantage point of the End. Christians truly live by faith when they see things eschatologically, that is, from the vista of the End. Faith is future hope.
Heb 11:1 'faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.'
